Ok, let's all laugh together. But really, it can be! In the Portrait Practice course, I'll show you exactly how to:
Make educated decisions when placing paint on the surface
I'm a fine artist, live wedding painter and contemporary portraitist. I am a wife, a mother, a leader and small business owner, and a mentor for artists.
Experience has taught me a lot of lessons about having a service-based fine art business, and I want to share that knowledge with you.
You and I have a lot in common. We are artists, working tirelessly to find the connection, the sweet spot, between what we want to create, and what our clients want from us.
After finding this sweet spot for my art business years ago, it has become my passionate mission to help you build the dynamic, profitable and sustainable fine art business you desire, by propelling your painting style development, business acumen, and artistic brand.
It would be an honor and a joy to become a part of your creative journey.
The Portrait Practice will include my personal painting supply list, direct links to easily purchase materials, and step-by-step guide to how I prepare to paint portraits in the studio and in a live painting scenario.
So, this course is not a rebellion against good painting practice. I feel like that needs to be said. The goal is not to have you rush through a painting to finish in record speed. In fact, while you're working through these paintings with me, you'll find that you are more deliberate with your brush strokes, not necessarily faster at painting them.
The Portrait Practice is a refresher on why (and how) focusing on the practice of blocking in values before detail work is beneficial to your art practice.
This practice will effectively accelerate your painting process, and help you to arrive to a finished painting that you will love and your client will die for.
You're a custom artist who does commissions, and while requests like pet paintings take no time at all, classic portraits take foreverrrr to finish and so you hate doing them.
When you're painting, you often get stuck on the face, unable to capture the likeness from the reference photo, and you tend to overwork the details.
You compare yourself (your talent, your paintings and general business success) to other artists, and struggle with a lack of confidence.
This course is for you if these problems sound familiar:
Is this course for portrait artists? Yes. But is it really for live wedding and event painters? Also yes.
Ok, fellow wedding painters, this one's for you.
You're going to take a break from stressing out about the work that you have to do, and will get to enjoy a calm, uplifting and captivating video series, at the bare minimum.
That video series will have you so inspired and motivated that you will fly through your first portrait sketch, then another, then another.
As you see improvement in your practice work, your confidence rises, and you start promoting yourself and getting more portrait orders/booking more painting gigs.
Your client's will be thrilled with their paintings, you'll be filled with pride in your work, and then before you know it, you have a booming, profitable art business.
Listen. When you sign up for this course, this is what's gonna happen:
At least, that's what happened to me when I started implementing the practices taught in the course. Except, I didn't have this lovely course to learn from, I spent years learning this stuff. Imagine what your creative practice and financial success could look like if you got a head start?
"Look no further for an art course. Stephanie is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to perspective, proportions, and color. She explains her tips and tricks clearly with a ton of passion!"
As a professional artist myself, Stephanie’s skill and knowledge on color, lighting, and perspective is unmatched. She is the first person I go to for artistic advice as her instruction is always helpful, efficient, and precise. In short, she’s the real deal and I cannot recommend her expertise enough!

I previously had painting experience, but what Stephanie has to share in this course undeniably has improved my technique, refined my practice, and helped me speed my painting process up.
@catherinerosestudio
A few months back, I had taken Stephanie's Portrait course. I was looking to increase my knowledge, improve my skill, and definitely improve my speed. This course helped me do just that.
@eventpaintingwithgina
I am a professional artist but have not been super uncomfortable in portraiture especially in front of people. While sharing her experiences with us Stephanie has helped instill confidence in me as I booked my first wedding. The Portrait Practice course was well presented. It was like having coffee a friend; fun, inspiring and informative!
@deannaeixman
There are not enough praises that I can give about the course! It was so well put together and presented! It was easy to follow and I learned so much regarding colors, tones, shadowing, proportions, and more. It was presented at a great pace…not too fast & it didn’t drag out.
